What is DSLAM?

DSLAM (Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer) is a networking device used in telecoms to provide high-speed internet services over existing telephone lines. It is used at the central office of an Internet Service Provider (ISP) to aggregate the digital signals from multiple customers into a single, high-speed connection to the internet.

DSLAM systems are designed to take the signals from individual subscribers and multiplex them into a single high-speed connection. They do this by using advanced digital signal processing techniques to separate the high-speed data signals from the voice signals and other low-speed signals that are present on the telephone line.

The DSLAM system then sends the high-speed data signals over a dedicated connection to the internet, providing subscribers with fast and reliable internet access. By using DSLAM technology, ISPs can offer broadband services over existing telephone lines without having to invest in expensive fiber optic infrastructure.
